Default Knock Sensor Replacement

Hi All,

I just did my knock sensor replacement. It took two weekends But now when i start the car it runs fine until I rev it up to around 1600 to 1800 RPM and it acts like it wants to die. I can't rev up pass 1800 rpm. Reason why I replaced both knock sensors had a squirrel or a rat chew thru one of the knock sensor wire so I decided to replace both. That was a job!

But now I can't rev pass 1800 rpm!!!!!

Any ideas? Did I miss something? Also, I have NO check engine light!!! I use to have error code 52.

Chuck

no idea but posting the year of your car generally helps a lot...

I did both knock sensors. i bought the connector but they send me the wrong one. I have a Cali car and it requires a different type so i spliced the connector to the old one. Would that cause the problem?

It wasn't as hard as it seems, just very time consuming.

Also, replaced Mass Flow Meter. That the was first thing I did before replacing the knock sensors.

try rebooting all electronics by taking battery terminals out for a few minutes.

I will try that. Just FYI, the battery was already discounted for the two weekends that I worked on the car. But you'll never know!

What's really odd is that I have no codes. You would think I would get something.

I sure hope you replaced your starter while you were in there, that job is such a pain that I consider that if a starter or knock sensor needs replacement, that you never do one with out doing the other, since you are already there!

also make sure the battery is new condition and fully charged, sometimes my LS will run bad when the battery gets old or somewhat discharged, they seem to be sensitive about this

Well this weekend I checked my LS to see if I can find out what's causing this problem. I've noticed if I rev it up slow I can pass the 1800rpm and go beyond. But if I do it fast, rev it up that is, it sputters and wants to die. Also my alternator just died. Don't know why. This is very frustrating.
