Good weather and finding retirees driving them. Those areas will be better prospects for well maintained low miles cars. To bad they aren't the ones buying Porsche cars to use them as grocery getters.

I waited 2 years, didn't get the exterior color I wanted but it grew on me fast.

Help me out guys. I found a 2000 with 65k miles. for 10k. sold by dealer. He says it is like new, no fading in interior at all.

Could a car with this low mileage have any problems I need to worry about? I'd need to fly to buy and drive it back so I need to make sure it's worth my while.

It sounds too good to be true. A PPI is a must.

Don't forget the 90,000 mile service is also time dependent (every 7 years or 90k). $1,200 - $1,500 for the service at a dealer. Maybe $800 - $1,000 at an independent shop. If it has not been done I would ask for it to be taken off the top. I spent 8K on a 99 with 67k miles a few minor issues. I would negotiate and get the price down to 9k.

Is this your first time buying a car? Buying a Lexus is no different than buying any other car. There's stickies listing common problems and fixes.

I recently picked up a 99 ls400 2 weeks ago. 98k miles, original paint, no dents or dings. Flawless interior, no rips, nothing. Speakers sound amazing. Took me about .. 2 months of constant searching. Had to drive 2 - 2.5 hours to go look at it, and the other 2-2.5 back. Took my whole day. -.- Just take your time and search, no rush!! Find the PERFECT one, or you'll regret it.

I've seen soooo many. The most excellent condition i have seen was a 99 pearl white, 100%fully loaded with GPS and everthing about two years ago. I couldn't believe how many miles were on it and i asked to see some papers to prove how many miles it had on it and to make sure they were original. It sold for 24K!!!

That 2000 with 65k miles turns out to be not as good as I thought it was after seller sent me more pictures upon request.

But I found one and bought it! I drove 3 hours to see it and 3 hours back. Will need to make another round trip to pick it up later. Just like some of you said, retiree driver is very easy on the car. 1998 silver 86k miles. serviced at lexus dealer. Paint is almost perfect, only one ding. I climbed under the car. no leaks, suspension parts still very tight. Only thing is a torn tie-rod boot. Engine mounts still good, too. Idles and accelerates super smooth. It has air suspension, which is pretty cool. I think it makes the ride even smoother. Interior is really clean. Leather slightly worn but clean. Only thing that doesn't work is the cd changer. gives an error code. Not sure how easy it is to fix. bought for 8750. Here are a couple pics from the seller. I think I did good, mainly because this car has been pampered by its prev owner. I hope to be just as easy on her so things, especially the air suspension will last. it's my 5th time buying a car. I guess I'm officially a member of the LS club now, LOL

Congrats xinkid! Nice looking car. Don't put off your timing belt/water pump service because if the belt breaks it will cause a lot damage to the engine. Every 90K or 7 years it needs to be done.

a couple things to keep in mind:

-has the timing belt been done? it's due at 90k miles and is approx $1100-1300 at a lexus dealership
-the car SEEMS to have a nakamichi stereo, if that's the case then finding a working replacement for the cd changer will be difficult if not impossible (no more nak parts have been made for some time now).
-WHEN the air suspension dies (not if) be ready to change all 4 shocks, buying springs and upper mounts. the air suspension units go for ~$1,100/corner new.

I did some research on error 21, it looks like I just inserted the cd wrong with the label facing up. doh!
The seller didn't know because this was his late father's car.

Unusual that the car has air suspension and Nakamichi but not the wood wheel and gear shift **** option - usually cars equipped with air suspension and Nakamichi also got the less expensive options too. If the car has halogen headlights instead of HID, it is even rarer.

Timing belt is also recommended every 7 years or 90,000 miles. Whichever comes first.

Thanks. I will get the timing belt done.

Are there any aftermarket air struts that are cheaper replacement than OEM? I really like how smooth it is to sit on air.
