Default CD-Rs don't play in CD Changer 2k LS400 HELP!!

Dear CL Members,
I have a 2k LS400…ever since day one, I am having problems playing CD-Rs – tried 20 different kinds of CDRs, different brand, tried burning at slowest speeds, etc. (Yes, there are other forums similar to this but…)

If YOU were faced with the same situation, what would you do? I’d like to listen to my own CDs (songs) as many if not all of us here do as well. Thanks for your honest answers

Have tried tried +R's? I have heard they are more compatable with older CD players .

Just to make sure; does it work with only original CD's? And they are CD Audio discs, not mp3? And the discs you make, do they work on other CD players? I remember you would have to close session at the very end of the disc write so it would be readable by CD players, not just your computer.

I just burned a -R and my 99 plays it fine. Make sure you are placing the disk label down and writable side up inside the multidisc tray. I know, it seems it should be the other way around. Must be a Japanese thing...

So, were you putting the CD's in upside down?

You also cannot overburn them. Other than that, these must be audio format CD's, not MP3 files.

I wouldn't force the issue. I killed my stock Mazda cd player by playing burned CDs. If it's that important buy after market.

PD's aux hook-up thread in the electronics section for MP3 players. CD's are ancient tech and for some of us slow adopters like me, it remains the main choice over the radio.

Good media as well.

Yes, the changer takes and plays original disks without any problems. The CDs that I make are Windows Media Format and these CDs do work in other CD players like my boom box at home.

Yea the discs are placed top down....I am surprised it plays on your 99 CD Changer unless you changed the changer?

I have no problems either. I burn Sony or Memorex using windows media player as an audio CD.

It's a 99 with the OEM Pioneer.

Here is an answer from Crutchfield:

"When a CD changer/player starts to malfunction, it seems that the "burned" CDs are the first ones to me misread by the player. Typically, the factory changers seem to be more susceptible to this problem.

My research doesn't show that your factory radio can be replaced or, at least, I don't have a dash kit or wiring harness that'll work with your car."
