where is the diagnostics box

I was trying to look at what check engine code my car was displaying...I know i need to connect the E1 terminal to the TE1 terminal...but i can't find the diagnostics box....I only found the fuse box under the hood on the driver side...can someone tell me where the diagnostics box is please?

Under the dash on the left side. Look under the dash, just left of the brake pedal. You'll see a round grey connector with a flip cover over the connector.
