suspension help for noob!!! popping from rear
hey CL!!! i tried searching for a couple days now and still havent found an answer to my question... i have a 92 lexus ls400.... it has 99xxx miles and it started to make a noise in the rear... a popping noise while turning and acceleration....its only when the car has load on the suspension.... if i hit a dip with no gas hard enough it will make the pop pop pop pop noise.... or during acceleration it goes pop pop pop if i hit the gas enough to make the *** drop.... the air ride is done... the front wont even air up.... the car shifts great and accelerates with no hesitation.... just the horrible noise!!!! ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!!
read a couple things saying it could be springs or it could be bushings... or wheel bearings.... one guy said he just replaced the rear end and it went away.... PLEASE HELP!!!! i just want my VIP!!!

also the motor runs great and tranny too.... the popping/clicking noise comes from rear passenger side.....
the car was on the super heavy 20s when i bought the car... replaced them with stock LS400 rims....
there were some ghetto rigged "lifters/ raisers"(2bolts with plates pushing springs apart) that were on the springs which i also took off... noise got worse on stock rims and when i removed the "lift kit"
THANKS IN ADVANCE GUYs!!!

Jack it up and check. If the bushings are bad you will most likely see them cracked or torn or leaking grease. If the wheel bearing is bad, you will be able to wiggle the wheel while it's on the hub, just grab it at 12 and 6 and alternate pushing the bottom/pulling the top, if it moves, it's bad. If the spring is straight up broken or out of it's seat, that'll be pretty obvious. If your rear end has obvious seepage or leakage, that would be an indication to look further as well. Turn the wheel while it's in the air, if it makes noise it'll be drivetrain related. If not, it's probably suspension related. Check the front bushings, tie rods and ball joints as well. If the airbags are shot that can contribute. Sticky brakes might also explain a popping noise, so throw it up on some jackstands and have at it witha flashlight.
