Antenna for '94 LS400
Hello,
Now that the car is fairly sorted-out, I need to make it look less ugly. Painting the quarter-panel that got hit in a hit-and-run will help.
My car came with this ugly plastic antenna thing, I need to replace it with something less cheesy. What are my options that look decent? I suppose tracking down an OEM one is one way to go, any other ideas?
Thank you much,
Stan

I would go for a JY factory unit. If you find one with a broken mast, you can buy it cheap and then order a new mast assembly from Lexus for ~$70 - then you'll have essentially a new antenna.

I just posted one for sale on that auction site that I had bought, then found out I didn't need. I never installed it. Just re-listed it as I had found it. P.M. me if interested

what i would do is utilize the antenna printed on the rear glass, assuming your car came prewired for an in-car cell phone. if you have a cheap plastic antenna, you will not have the motor/mast from the factory. like everyone said, finding one at the junkyard is the way to go. even if the mast is broken, a new mast can be had online for $15 or so.

Just a fair warning, I bought the FLEABAY special "OEM" mast for like $15, and it literally broke during the first retraction. It pulled the cable/gear right out of the tip of the mast. If you research the feedback on Fleabay, you will see that this happens to pretty much every one of them. IF you buy a replacement mast, ONLY buy an actual Lexus one, from a Lexus dealer, whether online or brick and morter.

I took a quick peek near the rear window and see what looks to be a mail connector under the head liner. I'll take a better look when I have some time. It there is an antenna plug there, it shouldn't be too difficult to utilize.

Yes, but not the same quality. Some have reported success with the cheap aftermarket replacement masts, others not so much. The Lexus mast is $55 more for a sure fire long term fix. No right or wrong choice, just a matter of one's priorities.
