Default might be getting a 91' Ls400 soon

Sup guys, Just getting into the Lexus scene. I do still have a 97' Subaru Impreza coupe 5spd AWD which i am going to let go at $3000,

The Q i have is, whats the common problem with the ls400? im planning to make it my DD even though its gonna be a gas grizzlie, so would it be a good choice to get it for my DD? and i am planning to travel at least.. 20-30 mins to work on work days,

this is gonna be my only car. haha

Just got a 91 myself a couple of months ago. So far on mine has been full tuneup. (Still had orginal at 250k miles). Still got to replace upper balljoint and rear latteral arm.

I drive mine as a commuter. 66 miles round trip to work. Cost 65 to fill it up and get 400 out of a tank.

I just picked a 91 up actually. 310,xxx on it. Has the AC retro fit already done, no rust, sitting in garage as i don't wanna drive it in the winter and rust it. traction control doesn't work but hopefully i can fix that by bleeding some things. other than that check for dash lights needles burning out, clock lcd screen going bad by turning black.

I have owned my 93 LS since new. The 93 and 94 have slight bigger wheels than 90-92.

Assuming you want to keep your car in good running condition, you should expect to spend more $1000 each year on average to maintain this car. Some years it will be $3k, some years less than $1k. That assumes you don't bring it to the dealer to fix things.

The weak links are: power steering pump (and rack pinion sometimes), instrument cluster. The instrument cluster issue is easily fixed at http://www.mrwhizard.com/. Power steering pumps goes bad each 7 years or so.

Personally I would look for 93 or 94, rather than the 90-92. You also want the Nakamichi option for sure, it is significantly better than the regular stereo.

Carefully go through each option before you buy the car. Everything is pretty expensive to fix. But it's a great car.
