Hey everyone, Im Justin. Living in Oshawa Ontario Canada though I visit Japan once in awhile for business. Working for a large insurance company and we have some asian investors
Im not so much into forums at all, though advised to join up in case I run into any mechanical troubles etc.
This car was originally imported into Canada in 06 or 07 by a close friend. Driven here and there, kept in doors over the years. And then in late 2011 he offered the car to me so I took it.
1991 model yr., has a few updates some of which need to be updated. We have questioned a few shops in Japan about who makes the 20/21 conversion front end but no one can pin point who. In any event I would like to revert back to the original front end. Mostly because the hood is well damaged (held on with pins now lol)
We thought of just fitting a factory 20/21metal hood but when you look closely at the aftermarket FRP fenders and hood alignment they appear to be different.
Rims are 20 X 8 or 8.5J. Although they look and are in great shape I'd like to settle down with an 18" rim. Cheaper on tires as well.
Anyhow enough chit chat. Few pics of the car when I had a new front glass put in. This is basically how it sits now. In the spring ill fit new 18's and hopefully by then have new factory original front end pieced together.

Oh and the side doors have skins attached to the lower halves and lower side aero. Really like the rear bumper on it...again no clue on maker. Though it deserves some loud pipes

If anyone has recommendations, Id like to rid away of the factory air suspension entirely. Its in fine order just want a sport type suspension.

If it has been converted then your easier route if the hood remains untouched, a factory hood from the 98-00. If the fenders and hood have been massaged to fit then either way you will be talking $ to revert to the original layout or the current one. You won't know until you pull the parts off to see if the original parts bolt up.
As for suspension, there will be little problem finding a junked 1-LS or aftermarket coil system to install here.
BTW, looks nice, I like those wheels.

In a nut shell, the factory latch let go and the hood completely blew off the car about 1 year ago. The factory hinges weren't damaged much though the mounting point into the FRP hood disintegrated as you'd guess.
Before I started searching for the replacement 98-00 hood I ordered the late hood hinges. The inside frame panel mounting point is much different from the early model I have. So this would be one point needing modification. But even still, ive convinced myself that this conversion kit does not have the same lines as the factory 98-00 has. More so at the top of the front fenders where it swoops upward.
I still dig the early front end. Would just need a sweet front bumper to match up with the rest of the kit.

No doubt this conversion has involved some heavy mods. Looking at the headlight attachment points for one. So long as the original mounts are still intact I would hope you are good to go.
Keep us posted on the progress. We haven't seen a reversion before and even for the 1-LS we've not encouraged the 98-00 change-over due to the financial outlay. That alone is probably halfway to actually buying the 98-00. As a project car if it brings a big , the cost is secondary.

I had the bumper off late last year. It seems the factory UCF11 aluminum front crash bar is original but the affixed metal panel attached above is from 98/00 year mode. This holds the bumper good and flush.
Fitting between bumper and front fenders has no special brackets. Though being FRP and slightly jiggly I fitted larger washers to hold the mating point more securely.
Only dodgy part on the whole conversion is the modified hinges and as seen the two zip ties holding the lamp inner mount tabs in place. Lower bolt holes are still secure with the 10mm fasteners.
