[1999] ls400 car wont stay on
hi im new to this place but i would really love some input of what u think is wrong with my car ...
My car has been working fine till one day i went to the liquor store and when i was pulling out of the drive way my car all of a sudden shut down when i made the turn ..so i put it in neutral and started the car up but when i pushed on the gas it was jerking. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TURNED ON!! and everytime i hit the gas it would jerk so i drove straight to the buddies house close by and he scanned my car and it gave me a error code stating p0100..Mass or Volume air flow malfunction...
so i drove my car home and in the morning...when i hopped in my car and cranked it on it would die right away.. i would have to keep my foot on the gas to get it to stay on and then it would just idle really rough and u can smell the gas really strong like its running super rich..Next day i switched my MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR and it still wouldnt work..it starts up but wont stay on please help me give me any ideas what u guys might think it is..

Your mechanic will tell you. But PureDrifter was saying check for spark on all 8 to see if one of the coils is dead, not the plugs. To me it also sounds like a coil. I was also thinking maybe your timing belt jumped but seeing how your car has an OBD2 connector then if it was the belt your engine wouldn't be running at all, it would be toast.
How many miles and when was the timing belt replaced last? Next time ya post put the year of your car in it.

this is why you're supposed to post the year of your car in the first post...
honestly, this seems to be beyond you, you need a mechanic. your car has a coil-on-plug ignition system and is slightly more interesting to diagnose. could be the ECU tripping out over a wiring issue or a bad MAF.

^^^ That's why I asked about the year, I was thinking it was 95-97 where you could just switch the coils to diagnose it but seeing how it's coil-on-plug, can't do that. I heard in the past if you tap the MAF and the idle changes then the MAF is bad. Even though you changed it, the new one can also be bad. Did you change it with a new one or used? My advice would be to have it diagnosed from a reputable mechanic. I'm sure you can find an independent repair shop (not a dealer) that deals with Lexus/Toyota vehicles, instead of just throwing parts at it and wasting money.
