seems to me (1LS electrical issues)
It seems to me, through personal experience and reading this and other forums, that the engineering on the ls 400 was superb in all areas but electrical. I am wondering if this has been the same on everyone elses ls400. Mine is a 94 and it has been one oddball electrical issue after another.
I decided to check for leaking caps in my ecu and found a couple of things, the 94 ecu is a complete departure from the 93, there are about 12 caps that are beginning to leak and they are gonna be hell to replace, and the topper, lexus decided not to use dielectric heat sink compound between chips and heat-sinks and between heat-sinks and the spot on the case the heat-sinks screw to. Has anyone else noticed this?
I like the car overall, just hate the wireing , I am curious if others feel the same.

I cannot recall all the details other than industrial espionage of a formula that was used in the manufacturer of capacitors outside of Japan. If some of these components were sourced outside it may be part of the issue here. Those early 90's was right in that time period. I had computer parts with caps from Taiwan that had this issue. Frustrating.
As with the the 1X series, we see the trunk wiring harness, cluster issues and of course the big PITA the ECU. Back then, it was an unknown so time weeds out these issues unfortunately. I'm side tracking though consider the possible issues the later gens will face as they too reach the later teen years? All those electronics to contend with. Overall compared to now, ours are simple machines.
