What a great idea! Looks perfect. What did you use to attach it? (super glue?)

Looks hot Mike, I heard the emblems from hubcaps on the 98-00 wheels are the same size.

Just worried about the Airbag, since that’s where the two pieces come apart.

If you notice on the LS430, it’s a smaller one to the top of the airbag rather then the middle.

If you put an emblem fasten either the top or bottom half, DO NOT attach both!!!! As that center crease is the tear point for the air bag, a dual attachment will most likely turn your "L" logo into a projectile aimed at your face/upper torso. As a paramedic I've seen many car accidents were the only injries resulted from the air bag impacting the drivers face. Saftey concerns aside the "L" looks good there.

When Lexus launched fifteen years ago the idea of a Japanese luxury brand that would compete fender to fender with Mercedes-Benz BMW and Cadillac seemed preposterous. But Lexus’ first sedan shocked the world. The result of hundreds of prototypes the work of more than 1000 engineers and some $1 billion the Lexus LS400 pioneered new ground. In the words of one auto expert “Lexus had reinvented the luxury car.”

Within just a few years Lexus had transformed itself from an unlikely outsider into one of the industry’s leaders. The Lexus Story describes the brand’s rapid ascent—and its travails along the way. The Lexus Story is the first journalistic telling of the history of this extraordinary company and its products. And it is the only account afforded full access to the designers engineers dealers and company leaders who molded the cars and the brand.

The Lexus Story takes readers deep inside the making and marketing of first-class automobiles from the creative sparks kindled in the design studio and the engineering refinements that translate ideals of performance and luxury into steel glass and rubber to the smallest details of customer service. Lavishly illustrated with more than 200 full-color photographs and designed to b both readable and visually welcoming The Lexus Story brings the most important milestones in the brand’s history of life.

I am so inspired by this idea, and always wanted a nice emblem on my wheel, that I just bought a copy of The Lexus Story from Amazon!

Thanks!

I'll post pics after!

Now when I do get it...how do I attach it?
Glue?
Sugru?
Epoxy?

Any ideas are appreciated!

Any adhesive will do I suppose. Just make sure to use a nice tiny applicator so you don't get too much on there and end up spreading it when you apply some force to the emblem.. I've been looking at a steering wheel emblem on ebay for over a month now.. its just too damn expensive.. Over $170. This is a ridiculously cheaper alternative..

Time for me to buy one of those books..

What I'll end up doing is masking the bottom half of the L with tape, apply adhesive to the top portion and then stick it on with medium pressure. Turn the heat on high and let it sit for 15 minutes. Then turn the car off and let it cure overnight. I'm personally gonna use some 3m spray adhesive. Works pretty good on metal to fabric.

It was in a later thread but it's highly advised to NOT do this mod. The airbag seam is right there which is why lexus didn't put an emblem on the wheel and molded it in. If the bag is triggered you're going to be taking that emblem in the face at a high rate of speed.

I agree that mounting it must be done such that it does not become a projectile in the event of an airbag opening...so:

I think it may be best to adhere it only on the bottom half, because the steering wheel is never pointing at my face, and the bottom half will open downwards making the emblem hit my pants and belly.

Thoughts?
