Default Wood/Leather Steering Wheel

I'm trying to find a Wood/Leather Steering Wheel for my LS, but I can't find anything that you can just buy and install yourself.

There is this crafts place in Texas, but they require you to send in your steering wheel, and they'll customize it with wood and leather, and send it back for you to install it. Thing is, it costs $500 (including shipping).

I thought it would be around $100-$200, but it's more than I thought.

I already know what Shift **** I want:

http://www.napolex.com/index2.html <Wood and Chrome

And I plan to get this Wood Dash Trim Kit:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lexus-LS400-...ht_2455wt_1072

^Probably gonna go with the Japanese Cherry to match the Shift ****.

All I need now is a Wood/Leather Steering Wheel, but I can't find anything. Google just shows wheels for 95-97 LS, but I need one for the 90-92 model.

Any recommendations?

there's no "DIY" approach to this unless you're rather skilled at woodwork and upholstery.

Search, either you buy, or have your stock modified. when you search you'll find some info on using a later wheel (98-00) wheel and airbag with some wiring to work with your early airbag system

I don't mean DIY in the sense of making it.

I meant buying something like this: http://www.craftcustoms.com/pages/Make-Model_Lexus.htm

And just installing that part myself.

But in the website, they want you to send in your current steering wheel, and they'll modify it; for $500.

I just want that handle part, i guess.

If you search wood steering wheel in the LS400 section ALOT of threads full of info come up that tell ya what other people have done. You just need to start with a 98-00 steering wheel and wire it in for the airbag. (just like PD said) Also, I just looked on carpart.com and saw 9 wood wheels out your side of the country. All different color leather.

I'm not sure how it works but people have done it. That's why in my last post I said; "If you search wood steering wheel in the LS400 section ALOT of threads full of info come up that tell ya what other people have done".

I have a question about Shift *****.

Would a shift **** from an IS, ES, GS, or LS from 2006+, work in a '90 LS?

I have searched alot one this topic too. I have a 91' LS and would like to get wood steering wheel but also it would be nice to have it upgrated to a newer look like the 98'. But i think the only way to get that look is to buy a 95-97 steering wheel because it looks the same on the outside as the 98' right? And then get new leather and wood from american sticthes or similar.

lol no.

you would have to convert the entire shifter mech to a gated assy from a 95-97. some SC guys have done it. search the SC forum for gated shifter.
