1996 LS400 Radio/AC Controls
I just purchased a 1996 LS400 with 146K on the odometer. I noticed the other day that sometimes the lighting behind the radio and AC controls will not be illuminated at some times. In addition, the buttons on the radio will not respond when pressing and some times, the buttons will work normally.
I have seen a couple of threads that say to bang on the unit and sometimes this will fix the problem.
I have done so and for the most part, it will resolve the problem temporarily. Has anyone else ever come across something like this before? I previously owned a 1994 ES300 and never had a problem like this. Thanks!

The illumination thing is a fuse/resistor or something along those lines. There are threads about it. Search for the lights not working at all, it sounds like yours is on the way out. Whacking electronics is never a perm fix... as for the buttons it is probably just wear... I would just find a use one in good shape and swap them
