Sorry, I'm sure this has been posted many times(buying '91 LS 400)
I have found a 1991 LS400 at a dealership, haven't seen it in person yet, and the website doesn't list mileage.
They are asking 3k but Edmunds says 1800 +/- so I'm sure I can talk them down a bit
I was just wondering if anyone had some advice on what to look for when looking at the car and test driving it..
Also, what would be a good settling price?
I've read that these last 3-400,000 miles, so should I even worry about mileage?

I would worry more about the price than the mileage. Being a 91' whether it has 200k, or 20k, it'll need some updating. There are enough of these early LS400's out there that I wouldn't just settle for this one. I would check the obvious, tire wear, check oil pan and timing cover for oil leaks, check fluid colors, and than give it a twirl. Oh, and another thing about the 1st LS400 is that it has a mileage counter separate from the cluster, so you can technically change the mileage of the car in a few minutes.

I called the dealership, they know nothing about the car because it was a trade in and they bought it from an auction. Is there a way to see if the timing belt and such were replaced?
I don't know too much more than the basics when it comes to cars.
The car says 190k miles and it is missing the small panel behind the left front wheel, they said I could find one easily at a junk yard, which makes me wonder why they hadn't done it yet.
Thinking I'm going to pass on this one.

When buying an older car I think you should stay away from dealerships. Low end places like that specialize in covering things up, and they don't mind streching the truth to the point of blatent lieing. What do you get in return for their "services"?
Buy from a regular person. What you see is what you get is the best situation.
