Default Thinking of adding the ls 400 to the family

MY mechanic found this car for me.. Not sure whats wrong with it but taking a quick overview of it,, body is in decent shape,,, so far i know it doesn't run and the gas tank and fuel pump was replaced..... Im gonna try to diagnose it sometime this week and find out how much the seller wants, but it looks very interesting.....

I'm not sure why it isn't running, the body does appear to be in decent shape but, the drivers steering wheel airbag cover does not look OEM. You might want to check to make sure there is an airbag in there...

if you can get it for <$500 and it's clean title and the rest of it looks to be in decent shape with not TOOO high mileage, i'd say its a calculated risk (at best)

towing the rear wheels on the ground is bad for the tranny.

Wow, I wouldn't go anywhere close to that car for more then 4 or 5 hundred. Not running, without knowing the problem, for a 19 year old car, that's just trouble. It was probably already in a pretty big wreck if it's a different air bag, if there's even one in there, which I wouldn't trust anyway. Needs a seat belt retractor and it's pretty dirty so it wasn't taken care of too good. Eh, maybe $300 not running. And like acidfire52 said "towing the rear wheels on the ground is bad for the tranny" unless the propeller shaft (drive shaft) was taken out.

It is b/c it still spins the tranny. That's why when ya get a rear wheel drive car towed they will either put it on a flat bed or pull the drive shaft. Or tow it backwards.

if the tow is for any kind of distance then yes, this is totally true.

to move a car around a shop, not so much.

my bad, should have been more specific. definitely don't wanna flat tow or rw tow the LS for anything more than a few feet.
