Default 1992 LS400 - Air Filter Replacement?

Howdy folks. I was wondering if replacing the air filter on a '92 was something a total newbie like me could accomplish without breaking anything. Also, I'd like to use a non-OEM aftermarket filter. Any suggestions as to the best one?

Also, does the first gen have a cabin air filter on it? If so, any suggestions there?

Thanks for all of your patience in dealing with a total newbie non-mechanic like me.

No cabin filter and i use a fram air filter. Don't see a difference in brands. But i am sure others might say otherwise. K&N Probably.

Your call.

Thanks johnnyg. You're right. That is way too easy. Heck, even I can do that. Thanks again.

Default OEM Toyota air filter made where?

By the way, does anyone have an OEM Toyota air filter handy? Part number 17801-50010-83. I was wondering if someone could read off the country of origin off the box. You know, "Made in ________." I'm just wondering.

JAndersson: just one more question (sorry): Did you happen to notice who the actual manufacturer of the filter was? Perhaps it was stamped on the filter itself? Was it Denso?

No, sorry. Just looked on the box the filter came in and couldn't find any information about who made the filter, not even where the filter was made. Guess that information was on the filter it self. Just remember that it was made in USA because that was a bit unexpected.

Ok, thanks JAndersson. I'm guessing it's Denso, but thanks for passing along the USA origin.
