Default UFC20 interior electronics questions.

Hi I recently purchased a 2nd gen ls400, and I ran into a few problems.

1. The climate and audio control display screens are "burned" and can only be seen at a certain angle / lighting.

2. The power lock only works for the driver side door, though it seems that all other passenger doors' locks seem to nudge a bit, but doesn't fully unlock/lock. Front passenger switch would still lock/unlock driver side, but doesn't do anything to the other doors.

So could the switch motor in individual doors be bad? or could it be a loose wires not making enough contact? If the motor is indeed bad, could a 1st gen motor replace the second gen?

The reason i'm asking was that there is a 1st gen for sale that was wrecked from the front for $400, so I'm just wondering if there would be anything else that's interchangeable between the 1st gen and 2nd gen. Thanks in advance.

Welcome to CL.

Could be a burnt out bulb that isn't giving you the backlighting. That entails pulling the cluster out though.

As for the door lock actuators, easiest is to hit up your local Lexus/Toyota parts guy to cross reference compatibility.

The year model of your car is not shown, but do you have a lockout switch on the driver's door control panel?

If you can remove the unit (tutorial available) and solder you can buy a new LCD to replace the blacked out one.

Door lock motors are interchangeable (tutorial available).
