Default Alternative to coilover?

is there an alternate way to lower the car without coilovers, they cost like $800 where i would rather spend the money on motor mounts. Are these any good?

They are not bad, many find them to be too soft. The idea is you spend $200 on springs, $400 on struts, you might as well pony up the other $200 and the adjust-ability.
Tanabe, H&R, or Eibach are your options for springs. KYB GR-2s are a good OEM replacement strut, there is a better one I cannot think of off the top of my head.

By the time you finish with springs and struts, it is the same in costs as the Megan EZ series. The Megan EZ offer adjustable dampening and ride height.

At the time I lowered ours, adjustable coils were costing north of $1,200 Tein CS, Junction Produce $2,200, Aimgain $1,800. Eibach springs at $200, Bilstein struts 4x$110 there was a big cost difference. Install has been constant at ~$200-$250.

Fix the motor mounts first, that is more important. Go with the adjustable coils when you are ready. Springs are old school.

if you want >1" drop get coilovers. the tanabes tend to destroy shocks a lost faster than eibach/H&R do since they force the shocks to work far outside their maximum efficiency, and will bottom out a lot (as they're soft as all hell).

do it once, do it right. if you have to wait, so be it.

If you want just springs, do as Pure Drifter said, find some H&Rs.
But, don't be suprised if your shocks go out soon after that. From what I have heard, Gabriels are good shocks, just not for lowering.

Yeah but than the question comes to mind that the car has 205 000 miles on it. I think i will wait until i can afford a 95-00 LS with lower miles than when i bought this car. Probably in the next five years...im a student and im looking at starting my bachelor of science which means i wont be earning money.

In 5 years if you get a 95-00 you'll still be looking at a, close to, 20 year old car which will be hard to find with less then 200K. So that will make it the same as you have now. But I can see trying to save money when you don't have it. Deffinately fix your mounts now, then worry about lowering it if ya have the extra cash.

I've had H&R springs on previous cars and I'd opt for those over the one TS posted.

so you're going to sell your current 1LS and buy a 2LS?

great, the coils you have to wait to buy will fit on those too.
but fix the engine mounts first. maint. first, mods second.

For right now, as others stated, do the maintenance first. I am currently riding H&R's with KYB shocks and the ride is just fine. Coilovers DO offer more flexibility as well as adjustability. If you lookking to keep the drop process simple, go old school and go e KYB route,,it you want to step it up and have to dial in comfort, adjustility, etc. gothe coilover route. All a matter of preference.

On the matter of the spring cushions,,,, they will have your LS riding like a low rider with a SERIOUS case of bounce envy. PASS!!!
