Default Coming back to an LS

So basically I'm looking for another LS. My last one was a complete horror story, what do you expect with a car with 295k on it right, but nothing I have bought since i got rid of it was as good as it. I do have pics of it though if you want to see them .

Anyways I was searching craigslist,cars.com,autotrader,etc.. and found a couple. I was wondering if these prices were good. I dont want to get ripped off again like i did with my last one .

Here they are (I can post the links if its better.)
1. 1999 Lexus LS 400 (black/tan), 157,995 Miles, 2 owners, asking $6,900.
2. 1994 Lexus LS 400 (black/black), 155,519 Miles, ?? , asking $5,385.
3. same as #1, 148,040 miles, 1 owner, asking $8,749.

These are the only 3 that have caught my attention while looking around...

Any input would be appriciated.

you are looking for a car at this not a dime a dozen these days and if you really want one and find a nice one you should pull the trigger a few hundred here and there will not make a difference in the long run. I would advise selecting one that has had regular maintence done and less owners .... pricing I think is what you think a deal is

Jeez thats alot of money, i paid $1600 cad for mine with less than 200 000 miles. I now have 200 000 on it today and ive had it for a year. All im saying is learn to do the suspension parts yourself otherwise the car is not worth the money.

Now that you bring it up that 1999 seems like a decent deal because people want 10-16 grand for the 99's in canada!! People want far to much for they used crap. An IS300 2002 cost roughly 11 000 with 180 000 km!

I'd look for the newer and 150K isn't too bad if the maintenance has been done. The one owner '99 would be my first choice.

Option 1. Can't beat the reliability of the 2.5 gens.

I paid 6500 each for my 2 99's, but I just happened to be in the right place at the right time... 140k & 160k. I have had 9 LS's so far and the 99-2000 are my favorite, the 98 models are a cross between 97&99.... and this may be good.. their T&T steering was the same as 95-97 and they were very dependable.. 99's were in the process of changing over and in 2000 they had it fixed.... some 99's were covered under warranty. If you are thinking 99, ask if the starter has been replaced !!! I have repaired both of mine.. BIG $$ if you cant do it yourself. I find the soft ride, quiteness, and looks of the 99-00 to be what I enjoy. good luck on your choice.

Is it just me or are those prices high for a 1st Gen. You should be able to get a 2nd Gen or even 2.5 for that money.

I would have to say #3 only b/c it's a one owner. And if all the regular mainenance was done, and done recently. I'd still say the price is a little high, but you can get that down. But #1 would be decent depending on how long the 2nd owner owned it and how he took care of it. Both of those the main concern would be when the timing belt was changed last. On #2 the price is way too high. The only thing on that one (94) you don't really have to worry as much about the T-belt b/c it's a NON-interference engine so if the T-belt does go you wont screw up the engine. That was the main reason I got my 93 and it's a good thing b/c my timing jumped, so I was safe.

they're kinda up there with the price due to them being sold by a dealer, I cant afford to drop 8k in cash for a car anymore (my last lexus drained my savings, spent 7500 in repairs to have it running perfect, but to have it totaled a month later by some idiotic driver...), so unfortunatly that means i have to make payments...
i looked at the service history on the lexus website and the last 2 were really bad, ill keep the first one in mind but i guess the search continues.

I agree with kuziwk. I got my 93 LS for $1600 and it was close to 200k and now its somewhere in the 200k mile mark since I haven't checked it. I'm thinking about selling mine now since gas has gone up.
