Default Daytime running lights?

I recently purchased a 99 LS and was wondering if my car had the daytime running light option (I'm pretty sure I saw another car with them on). I do notice that the first click on the headlight stalk turns on the tail lights, but nothing on the headlights. JW if my bulbs are out or if I even have the option. Any info is much appreciated. Thanks!

They were available in 99 also as an option also as my friends car has it and its a 99. The DRLs will go on with the engine on and moving the stalk will actually close them when the headlights are on, but they will be on when taillights are on (i.e. dim), so it is safe to say that your car does not have the DRL option.

Default My '99 has them

My '99 has them, headlights only run at 30% normal power in DRL mode so they're hard to catch in daytime from the driver's wheel, but they come on as soon as the engine cranks. I didn't see this listed as a 'programmable' feature, assumed that all '99s had this feature. I know on some US/Canadian cars they're wired out for a DRL module that can be inserted for DRLs, but not sure what controls them in the LS400.

I guess it was an option as my 99 does not have them and they are controlled by a DRL module behind the passenger side dash and can be accessed to cancel the feature too, there is a thread on CL about how to do it, but if your car does not have it then it cannot be added, at least as far as I know.

And check to see that no wires were cut at the DRL relay under the dash: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls4...ml#post4128516

Anyone have a solution to only one daytime light working?

1999 LS 400 (280k miles). Headlights and high beams work, but when it switches to the daytime running light only one bulb comes on.

welcome suggestions / past experience

^^^ i believe the light are dual beam, so low beam(DRL) may be dead and high beam still work. To confirm 99 model came with DRL standard 98-89 dont have them.

high beams are 9005 single filaments bulbs.

approx 30-50% power yields DRL
