Default 4th gear problem

So lastnight I noticed that my car will not shift into 4th gear like I had over drive off. I to have a code for the speed sensor but that has been on for months. I can not figure out what it is.
I have sen checked the sensor with a lab scope and it all checks out good. Can you guys please help me out.

One last thing I have a bad exhaust leak would that have anything to do with my problem?

Was the car driven from a cold start as these transmissions will not shift into 4th (overdrive) until the transmission fluid has warmed to a certain temperature

Pull the transmission codes to see if anything flags up as it could be any number of things like shift solenoids, transmission fluid temperature sender unit, wiring fault.
I take it the fluid level is correct and in good condition?

pulled the code and its #42 for the speed sensor. I have had this code for months now and no problems other than speedo not working some times. fluid looked good but decided i would do a drain and change the fluid and filter.

Its not a sensor. Its a solenoid. Some are external, some are inside the valve body. What was the code?
