Default Help choosing rims

Snow is almost gone, time to ditch the old man rims, although nice and smooth. So i have 235/40/17 tires and im looking at getting some rims. I cant afford chrome but i like the look of the gunmetal machined rims, the car is gold what do you guys think?

Here are some 17" x 7.5" rims im thinking of getting. I would go bigger but since we have a bad winter here in canada the roads have alot of potholes this year and i would hate to crack a rim. Not to mention i dont want to lose ride quality.

Definitely not feeling those wheels for an LS.

What year is your LS? 17"s on an '89-'94 would probably look fine, but they're going to be a bit on the small side for a '95+. I ran 20"s with a 35 profile tire for a few weeks before I got my coilovers, and didn't really notice much degradation in ride quality - just a bit more noise.

I understand where you're coming from with being on bad roads, as that was a concern of mine as well when selecting wheels (I was determined to go no bigger than 18"). But I've hit some serious potholes at speed with mine over the last couple years and have had no issues.

I have a feeling that if you're wanting to stick to 17"s, many people are going to recommend wheels off another Lexus.

OMG! Please for the love of Pete do NOT put those wheels on any Lexus.
If you're dead set on 17's then OEM wheels are your best bet.
I've had OEM 16's & 18's and aftermarket 19's & 20's. My advice would be 18's. I can't tell the difference in ride quality between 16's & 18's at all. 19's & 20's I noticed a difference for sure.

The spoke style is ok to me. The lip advertising is 17's on your '92 would be passable. Keep in mind that the heavier weight of these wheels will change the ride quality. That also depends on your backside sensitivity meter. In addition your car has some miles on it so the heavier wheels may bring out problems with any worn bushings etc.

Going conservative, any of the OEM wheels on later LS's would be alternatives.

i wasnt dead set in 17's its just, yeah higher miles so the larger wheels will be harder on the car. Plus i already had tires from last year, i bought them off kijji and the rims were bent and the ******* got away with ripping me off. I cannot find stock lexus rims in my area.

Can you guys help me pick some rims at kal tire, below are my choices. If i want 18's i have to get used.

i wasnt a fan of the lip that says core racing either but i can live with it, also i figure i can change out the center caps to lexus ones

what about these too

What's your budget look like?

Not really feeling any of those wheels either, IMHO. Only ones I even would consider would be the CORE Racing Image ones, as they look more "upscale" than the others. Like RA40 said, check out the wheel classifieds - there's lots of nice stuff there for reasonable prices.

budget is around 500. I can get most of the rims at kal tire for 580 as I have the tires already. there is no point in buying from the classified because it will cost 500 alone to ship them to canada.

How about some 2-GS 5 spoke 17's. The IS300 17x7" is also an option.

ive been looking for lexus rims for the last year though, I really like the gs rims though. im getting slotted brake rotors too and if have time I will probably paint the calipers black or gold or white. so there is honestly no wheels at kal tire that you guys would recomend? it seems its my only option but the core racing image are too expensive. question though, is there a big.difference between 7" and 7.5" on my 235 tires for looks?
