Question 1992 LS400 - Oil Level Sending Unit

Does anyone know what the part number is for the oil level sensor? (Not the oil pressure sensor)

Or if anyone has repaired this part, what was done?

Thanks in advance!

Not exactly sure of the location. I thought it was just above the oil filter.

no i think it's on the passenger side, in the vicinity between the alternator and motor mount.

The sensor near the base of the filter is the oil pressure sensor. The oil level sensor is shown on the Switch and Relay page of the Electrical section of the parts catalog. Here is a link to the LexusPartsNow.com online page for a 1992.

I hope you are sitting down. If you want to purchase a new one, they are ~ $400. You didn’t say what the problem is. But at that price, I would be inclined to either source one from a junkyard or, if possible, rig a plug and electrical bypass.

Thank you twofanman, that's exactly what I was looking for. For some reason I could never find anything at LexusPartsNow. Lol

The light has been on and off since my last oil change. The oil level is fine, but the light persists. Wow, $400, no thanks. I read about someone doing an electrical bypass, but I think it was on a different connection. I'll have to check that out.

why not just pick one off an older car? they're not something that usually go bad...

Though, i'd make sure yours was plugged in first...
