Default new owner old ls

hi all
few weeks ago i bought 2000 ls400 with 143000 miles
i want to change all fluids and have few questions

last owner used conventional oil, what should i use? (i would like to use synthetic or at least synthetic blend but im afraid that im gona have leaks)
high milage oil?

can i clean transmision filter or buy new ?

i may have alignment problem (last owner did alignment at least 2 times in 3 years) when i changed battery at firestone they told me that i need alignment
what may be the problem? front suspension?

For the fluid questions, try using the search button, there are many, many threads discussing what everybody likes and uses. Same with the alignment, search. But, when Firestone told you that you needed it they should have checked to see what was needed to cure the problem. It could be many different parts. It's hard to give you an answer without any symptoms. I think Midas will check it out for free, mainly b/c they want the business.

Should not be a problem with that mileage.

The alignment problem could be due to worn bushings that allow too much play in the suspension.

2000 isn't old at all!

Now my, 1990, that's old! (but she also has 144,000 miles!)

I see you're from IL, I think we might be the only ones in the LS400 section, ha. Where ya from?

The oil leaking due to switching to synthetic is mostly a rumor from the early days. You can switch with no problem.
