90 LS400 purchase advice, please
I'm looking at an original-owner 1990 LS400 that has 90,000 miles on the clock. It has cloth seats and the standard stereo. The sunroof is stuck in the closed position, but is tight with no leaks or rattles. The serpentine belt squeaks, but that's the only other obvious issue I'm aware of.
My concern is that a 21 year old car might be a ticking time bomb when it comes to age-related wear items like rubber vacuum hoses, servos, window motors and mechanisms, and the like.
I'm a big fan of the first-gen LS400, but am worried that even if the mechanicals are good for another 200K, the little stuff could become a big deal.
Any and all advice, one way or the other, will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
David

I would have to agree with you on this one. Unless you are a mechanic and can do this kind of stuff yourself. Is there someone you trust that can inspect it? It could be a blessing in disguise too!

Hey, that's my car!
David: I have a First Gen quite similar to the one you describe. In my opinion, so long as the price is reasonable, the car is a great value. Yes, certain things will deteriorate with age. But in my experience, this car is so pleasantly over-engineered that it shouldn't be an issue. Looks great as well. Good luck on your decision.
