O.K. I backed into a truck that was parked at the end of my drive. To me it was his fault, but ins. co. says its mine.(93 ls400)They say that it is totaled because in tn. they will pay for 75% of its total worth. I owe $2000.00. I'm not sure what my next move should be. My good neighbor has not shown himself and everything I do is by long distance. The car only has damage to the right rear($3900.00) damage Thanks if anyone can help!

Welcome-
You owe $2K on the car?
Damage estimated at $3,900, based on that, yeah, toast. What exactly is damaged? Pics?
Body work can add up quickly but this sounds like more than just a dimpled quarter panel and a re-spray. A bumper at typical costs is ~$500-$650. Paint another $2-$300 so easy $1K. There are many sources of bumpers so cost can go down significantly as well as body shop costs depending who you select. If a quarter panel, yeah, that takes some good work and more so if it has to be cut out and replaced.

how fast were you going? or how long is your driveway.....
I think you said it in the beginning of your post, "O.K. I backed into a truck that was parked at the end of my drive." your lucky your neighbor is not making a claim against you.
I would take them $ from your ins and get another one. now you have a parts car!

You backed into the other guy's truck and it is his fault?? Did I miss something here?? Yes I understand that he was parked at the end of your driveway, and yes I understand that he should not have been there, but as others are asking how fast were you going to cause that much damage. The other question is are you even aware of your surroundings? Surely you should have seen the truck even before you got into your own car. Not to mention, it sounds like you tore out of your driveway backwards and the accident resulted. SLOW DOWN. Notg judging you, but just based on what you have told us so far,, it is 100% your fault (inattentive driving).
Sounds like the ins company WILL total the car based on the damage estimate. Your only other alternative now is to fix out of pocket.

When a drunk driver hit me from behind (hit & run) at a stop light in my 91LS about a year ago, the $ damage was less than the $3900. They were doing about 35mph and slammed on the brakes right before impact.
Maybe he was traveling at 35mph in reverse?

Wow that much damage backing out of a driveway? Must have been flyin' in reverse. Is there any frame damage? Pics would help so we can see what kind of damage you're talking about. The way ins. companies see it is if you are backing up and hit something it's always your fault, no matter what. Be happy they're giving you anything for it as it being your fault. How much are they paying you for it? And how much to buy it back from them? As whit3b0y stated you should take whatever they give you and buy another LS and use this one as a parts car. Two decent cars can make one excelent car.

is the driveable with its damage? if so, keep it and buy a parts car to have it repaired at your convenience.
if the car is not driveable, then let the insurance company pay you for the car.
or
you can keep the car. and find a cheap (less than a $1000) 90-94 ls whose body is in good condition.
