Default Navigation - A/C - Audio operations Question?

Hey All

I have a question for those of you with the navigation system.

How do you like it. Now the question is not how good does the Navigation part work but actually how does the A/C and Radio portion of it work. I am looking for a 98 and have found some with the Navigation but have steered away from them. I have not been able to actually play with one and am very curious.

Do any of you how have the system have a Digital camera and can take some screen shots of the A/C and Audio controls. Are there any cool feature you get because of having the Nav screen. Are there any side effects of having the Nav screen. I have read that with Polarized sunglass the screen blanks out, is this so?

Hey any input would be highly appreciated.

I am aware that this system in the 98 - 00 is Hard drive based and expensive to upgrade. This is one reason who I have been avoiding it. But if it give you some cool features or neat control over the none Nav system I would like to know.

Thank again to all

P.S.
This Wednesday I'm going to a huge Luxury car Auction for dealers only and plan on buying a car. I do not know if I will be able to actually play with all the car function other than just looking

My dad's LS430 has the Ultra package and the nav system is sweet. The audio and climate controls are sweet. Maybe I can take some pictures of it and post them. It's pretty easy to work too.

Default Nav input

Horta:

I have the Nav on my '99 and it has been a very good system for me. I have had no problem using it. It is very intuitive and very useful. The controls for the audio, climate and Map features are excellent, IMO. I use these everyday. I was also going to post the picture of mine, but it is not different from the one you already attached to your post.

WRT upgrade, I am waiting for the 2002 release in September before upgrading. The price at my local dealership is $499 for the upgrade. I consider the cost/benefit and find that, for me, it is worth the investment to upgrade.

However, if you are an audiophile (as it sounds you are), maybe the Nakamichi option is best for you since you cannot have the Nav with the Nak option. Like I said earlier, the premium audio in the car is plenty good, with 7 speakers and 195Watt power output. I play Jazz and soft rock, and the output is fantastic. But I am no audiophile so this may not satisfy your taste

Good luck in your search, and hope this is helpful to you.

Hey if it would not be to much trouble could you please post some pictures of what the display looks like when your in Climate or Audio mode. Do you still get Random play for the CD player? Can you name radio stations with letters or is it just the numbers?

Also I have read that once you driving you can only make two keystrock on the Nav system. Does this ruel appy to the Climate or Audio system??

Thanks for any input you may have.

Default Horta, I am trying to send the pics

to your question but no luck so far. The pictures are 2-300Kbytes and too large for the limit here on CL. Do you want me to email them to you instead ? Is there a photo editing program that will reduce the size down so I can post these here ?

Yes

Please email them. I have DSl at home and Mega Speed at work so the size does not matter.

hortaja@bellsouth.net and jerry.horta@motorola.com

Thank you so much and look forward to seeing them
