Some cosmetic issues. Sounds like he looked after it. See it, drive it, have it checked over. If it needs any of the usual maintenance items like Powers steering system start deducting from there. If it's super nice in person and doesn't need major items make him an offer these are fun cars to drive & own. But they do need maintenance - they're not brand new anymore.

I bought a '93 in Feb 2010 at 223K that was damage repaired needed instrument cluster/climate control, had leaky PS system & had old tires but as all these do - it drove beautifully and I was sold on it so picked up for $2,500.

It's now less than a year later and I've already got $4,500 more spent on it in tires, wheels, instrument cluster/climate control, exhaust, O2 sensors, upper control arms, used alternator. It'll soon need timing belt & accessories, plugs and all new alectrical (plugs wires rotors, distributor etc just mainenance) and likely starter at some point. Oh, and the shocks are toast.

I'm probably talking you out of it but I guess the point is don't get hung up on the purchase price, it's the maintenance that costs. However I still love my LS400.

I think the price is out of range. I would suggest $3500 at the most, it's only a 94. Although it has been very well taken care of mechanically, the interior is shot. Seats, cigarette burns, lots and lots of wear and tear, and who knows what's under those floor mats. No heated seats (Not sure if you need them) The body is scratched and dented and it looks like some gaps between body panels and doors are too big. At least it doesn't have factory air suspension. If you don't mind the looks it wouldn't be bad for $3500. Ya just gotta remember there will be things that will need to be fixed after ya purchase it and drive around, that's when you'll notice alot more. (Such as suspension bushings and stuff) These cars aren't cheap but they ARE worth putting a little money into.

check ALL the rear suspension bushings. all the ones on my 93 are shot. working on buying new ones to replace them now. just did all the underhood maint and then some so im broke.

also check the ball joints, mainly uppers as if they are bad, you have to buy the whole control arm, and they arnt cheap.
