Default 300c stock rims for winter on my 91 LS ?

Hey folks

What would you guys think of 18" chrysler 300c for winter use on my LS?

Im really tired of the stock 15" i have and they dont have too much meat on them left, and felt over a set of 300c 18" for cheap

Should i buy them?

Get some winter tyres on and fit them on my 91' LS? Would it look OK for winter rims? Theres a looooong time to summertime

If the offset is ok...

Being in So. Cal, winter takes on a different meaning, that in mind...are low profile snow tires ok? My buddies back east usually drop down their wheels -1, -2 to run their winter set-up.

18's seem like a bit much from a snow tire. If i were you, just use the 15's for snow tires and save up money for a rim you really know you want and use those for summer

Already have my 20" babies but theres a loooong time to summer:

But yeah i also wonder if 18" would be too big for snow tires. The 300c wheels are ET35 so that should be fine. I just hate the look of the car during the winter time with those ugly 15" stock wheels. Theres nothing VIP about that:

I know some people run the old Supra "sawblades" as winter wheels and those can be had fairly cheap. I didn't like the look of my stock 16s" for the winter, and since they were in bad shape anyway, and friend and I sanded them down and rattle-canned them to make them ugly on purpose ha:

Argh damn the guy wrote 5x114,3 but after some searching i can see they are 5x115. Thanks guys.

Mugen_1 that looks better than oem though its only a 16" wheel.

Mine are 15" and because they are so small i really dont wanna put any time into sand and paint them. I want at least 16 or 17 for winter tyres. But yeah maybe 18" is too big and with the bolt pattern not matching hmmm...

chrysler 300c 5x115 actually has a pretty large tolerance and will fit perfectly fine onto 5x4.5 (114.3mm) pcd studs. the SUPER IMPORTANT THING is to make sure you buy the proper HUB RINGS to go from the chrysler centerbore to the toyota/lexus 60.1mm bore. we can get away with this because the cars are hubcentric, not lugcentric.

lugnuts will not seat properly. i can't beleive you push original tire diameter harder than correct pcd. ridiculous.

"proper" pcd? there's a grand total of 0.7mm between the stock 5x114.3mm PCD and the 300c's 5x115mm pcd. (that's <0.028in.) that's arguably outside the tolerances of most stock wheel manufacturers for their pcd. i know i've been able to bolt on some 5x115 to 114.3 cars and vice versa.

given that our cars aren't lugcentric anyways, and the primary load is being placed on the hub (hence: hubcentric) the arguably more important safety aspect is to ensure that the proper hub rings are used provided the wheels fit on the LS pcd (given chrysler's tolerances there shouldn't be problems, though it is possible).

no, the OEM lugnuts wont seat since they are mag seat nuts w/washers and could force the stud to bend if the tolerances are too tight, as that's pretty obvious i didn't post it. if one was to do this one would want to use either ball seat or acorn seat nuts.

18" winter tires get really expensive.

My suggestion?

Get some IS300/Altezza alloys [17x7 - ET50, not sure if these clear the LS400 brakes, but im sure a small spacer would do it] And 17" winter tires are a lot more reasonable in price.

GL!

OP has a 1st gen LS (with i believe the original brakes) and since its the 95-00 LS that has the big brakes he should be fine running those 17s

if spacers would be needed they wouldnt be small though, 15mm minimum.
