mine is doing the samething after filter & flush..

i Got this from a stickie..

• 3 qts. ATF. I used Coastal Multi-Vehicle Synthetic Blend Automatic Transmission Fluid from AutoZone for $3.99/qt. It says it meets Toyota T-III and T-IV / Lexus specs.

• Rostra Solenoid Kit #67420CK. Fits A140 / A240 / 241E / A340 / A340E and maybe more. It was about $112 with shipping from Makco Transmission (through their eBay store).

another question, i am at Rosemead,CA area, i am wondering what kind store might have the strainer instock, i will try to Longo Lexus in El monte first, but if they need order it i can try to call some other stores around. thanks!
They have them at most AutoZone's, just call ahead to be sure. Usually comes as a 'kit' along with a new pan gasket. Just did one the other day and it worked out fine, no leaks. Just make sure you put a new copper crush washer on the drain bolt or torch the old one to re-form it or else you'll end up with a slow leak. I also put a little RTV on each pan bolt for extra measure, not sure if it actually needed it tho.

.
No such thing as multi vehicle automatic trans fluid. And if the transmission was new and that is the only fluid it ever saw then you may get away with it. Never mix anything in the LS automatic. And you maybe paying the price for trying to save a buck where it should not be saved. I've read many places where something is advertised to meet a spec, and in reality it does not meet all the other variables for the transmission. Multi vehicle really ? So a Chevrolet automatic transmission has the same friction material that a Lexus does? And the same shift schedule meaning the same application pressures and time to clutch lock and many many other variables that the engineers spent weeks or months on. And you got it figured out in just one shopping trip.

well i guess then the stickie should be editted by moderator.

i not arguing with the technical aspects of lexus /toyota transmission.

but some places do not have a toyota dealership near by and in a pinch
have to get home.

remember I didn't write the original stickie..i went to it for technical reference.

some of the newer universal fluids that are rated for use in replacement of T-II and T-IV fluid should work fine. Will it work as optimal as the original factory stuff? Unknown, though many have reported success.

Where we know there are issues are with running regular old multi-vehicle ATF that is NOT specifically rated for use in T-II/T-IV applications or straight dexron/mercon trans fluids.

thanks for the reply..$60 is lot cheaper than than a rebuild kit + time or a used or even a re-built transmission.

I'll give it a go.
