Default thinking of upgrading to 430. Used for $41000 good deal?

Hi All

I currently have a 98 LS400 with Navi, platinum upgrades.
One local guy wants to sell his 01 LS430 with 32000 miles for $41000.00 (no navigation, just standard model). Do you guys think the price is reasonable? I don't know how much these new LS430 sell for now or back then.

Please advise.
Thanks.

Not reasonable in my opinion, 32k miles is alot of miles for a car, 41k for a couple more thousand u could probably find a better car with quite a bit less miles, but if u really want the car, just listen to ur insticts

sphereman:

The Black Book (slightly more reasonable price guide) gives the following quotes for a base '01 LS 430 with 32K miles:

Trade-in / Retail (dealer)

rough: $41,360 / $49,075
clean: $52,100 / $58,275

Average: $49,425 / $53,825

Original MSRP: $54,005

If you have someone offering $41K as a privat party sale, based on the above, it will appear to be a very good (read: cheap) price.

If you don't mind me asking: why do you want to buy a model with far less options than that which you currently drive ? just curious ....

thanks for the info!

i also thought 41k was a decent price. i will see if i can get the seller go down in price a bit more.

i have the exactly the same car as yours (mine is 98 though) pearl white, NAV, HID, and etc. what i did recently was replacing the original alum. wheels with new platinum edition wheels (much better looking in my opinion), putting 'Platinum Edition' badges, pearl black chrome badges, and new platinum edition floor mats. now my car looks just like one of the 01 platinum edition LS cars.

if you are interested in these upgrades, let me know. i know one good person at a local lexus dealer, he always gives me great prices on parts.

oh, the reason why i wish to upgrade is simply the LS430 is NEWER!! i know i will eventually upgrade to an LS430 so i thought i might just as well do it now. i don't really care about NAV since i don't use it often.

see ya.

Default YES, i am interested

in the platinum edition mods you made to yours. And since we have essentially the same vehicle, I will love to see yours in these mods. Just by mere coincidence, I was at a local lexus dealership today and was enquiring about chrome wheels. I love chrome, I had a set dealer-installed on my '01 Sequoia at purchase.

Can you PM me on the info on yours ? and a picture will help also. I just bought mine in May and have been debating where to start. The wheels are certainly my #1 thing I'd like to change, although I can here the spouse groaning already....

Thanks already. You also could help me out on another thing I need - a good Lexus dealership somewhere in So Cal. If yours is in the LA-San Diego area let me know, and I'll surely patronize them if they are better than my local ones.
