Emissions Inspection
I was just wondering who might have an answer to my latest emissions inspection. I took the '97 LS in to an Express Lube place to have the inspection. After waiting in line for about an hour (I was the 5th car in line, where do they get this Express stuff?) they started giving me the inspection and taking readings. After a few minutes the guy came up to me and asked if I had my A/C on? Which I hadn't because they already told me to turn it off. The first thing I thought was some trouble...I waited to hear from the attendant that "It was close" or that it might have failed. But he started doing the paperwork and finished up, gave me the printout of the tests and my reading was .006. The printout stated that a reading of 2 or above was failing.
I thought it was pretty good considering the car has 67,000 miles on it.
Does turning on the A/C improve the readings on the emissions tests? Why did the attendant ask me if my A/C was on when I had a passing reading?
Thanks.
