Default Adus 505 & 583 Bushings On 1st Gen

Hi,

I installed the Adus 505 and 583 rear urethane bushings on my 91 some time ago. I have the 583's installed both inbound and outbound including at the knuckle on control arm #2, and the 505's at the bottom of the knuckle as well. They squeak / groan when taking turns at low speeds. I've taken the bolts out and put silicone grease on them a number of times, but it always comes back. Has anyone come up with an ingenious way to stop this from recurring? I was thinking about not torquing the bolts down as tightly as spec, because when they're to spec, the urethane bushings are tightly sandwiched in there. So tightly that my guess is that the whole bushing is having to spin inside the casting of the knuckle when the suspension is working up and down, which I'm guessing is where the squeak is coming from.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Jim

The squeeking is the friction from the urethane and metal. Maybe you can use silicone spray and let it penetrate.

I took the 505's out and cut some shallow slots into the bushings with a dremel. I'm hoping they'll be able to hold some grease in the slots to stay lubricated. The squeak / creaking is gone for now. I was hesitant to drill holes in the castings of the knuckles for zerks.

Thanks

With bushings made out of this material, you must use a silicone based lube (ie 3m silicone paste or super lube)... not a normal petroleum based product (as mentioned in the thread). The Daizen Polyurethane sway bar bushings included this type of lube with the part and I have never had any squeaks. Adus would do itself a service to include or at least inform customers of this... Perhaps taking the bushings back out and coating them in silicone lube/paste will help?

Good luck!

I've used 3M Silicone Lube on them in the past.... I buy jars of it on Amazon for around $22 each. Not cheap but it works... This time I've tried putting Sil-Glyde brake lubricant on them. Silicone based, so we'll see how this stands up.

Thanks
