id its like most other toyotas, its a m8 machine screw thread. i can check mine tonight as its on the engine stand and i have some m8 bolts left laying around from the bolt on trigger wheel's i had made for the 5m/6m/7m engines.

m8, and the length, idk what you would need. also might want to grab some m6 bolts just in case its a slightly smaller thread. as i said, ill check tonight when i get home from work.

Its not the size of the screw bolt head you need to worry about but the thread pitch. You just have to try which bolt screws on the crank hole smoothly. It is probably M8 - 1.25 or 1.5 thread pitch.

i tried an m8 bolt i had and it threaded in. so does seem to be m8. i didnt know machine screws came in 1.25 and 1.5 thread pitch. i dont know which one the bolt i used was. just ordered m8 x60mm long black allen head bolts when i ordered them.

Autozone has a deal better than the above. You can get a pully puller there and take it back when you are done with it and get your money back- No charge. I have received several tools that I will probably never use again this way. Its part of their free loan service.

x2 , and pretty sure if you just go pick up an M8 bolt, it should come in a standard thread, however I am sure you can get many other threads patterns.

I torn down my '98 front end two days ago. I did not use my pulley puller, just took my mallet to each side of the crank pulley a couple times and then was able to walk it off by hand. I have only had the car for 3,000 miles so I dont know if the pulley had been off before.

Well It's a long story, First the head Gaskets blew then I went in to take it all off and when I got it all put back, I had not Torqued the heads down to the specs so they blew again. So I replaced all Valves, springs, Head Gaskets, water pump, seals, oil pump, Pistin rings looked good so I did not replace them But now that I have everything back in place, she wont start, you can hear the starter turn but it wont crank?

I did check timing, all 3 marks line up And I made sure of this before putting it all back...When I turn the key the whole dashboard gos dim and the starter will keep turning, no fire, I even unpluged the coils thinking maybe it would do something diffent , still the same

Here are some photos, the First one is Left Cam and the 2nd is right cam, When I did try to start the Eng about 10 times would that turn the timing belt? Because if so then thats why my timing marks are off now,,,what else could it be? grounds? battery? fuse? I blew a 120AMP fuse that gives the car power inside but I don't think they has anything to do with it....What cyl is 1#? could I have messed up by not making sure 1# cyl is top centre on the firing stroke?
