Question Headlight Socket Fried

Good evening,

I was driving and notice that my right side HID bulb kept flickering and then it went out. I took a look under the hood and the wire had a short in it but I always keep a set of HID bulbs and ballast on hand just in case.... Well I tried them and nothing work, the light wouldn't come back on. I then tried a OEM bulb instead of the HID kit and still the OEM bulb would not power on. I took a look at my headlight socket (gray piece which you connect you're OEM bulb to) and I notice that the left port was fried so I take it that the socket is now trash.....

My question is, can I take the actual wire which run from the car to the socket and re-wire it to the HID black/red wire? I am just trying to figure out if the socket is needed or not..... If I can just rewire the lights which are connected to the socket and wire them to the HID black/red wires and I will be good to go.

Also I have the same issue with my FOG lights (yellow middle lights) the sockets are all fired. Can I just remove the wire from the socket and connect it directly to the wire coming from the bulb?

Note: The driver side HID is still working... So I didn't think it was the headlight fuse.

Another quick but stupid question. Does both headlights share the same fuse?

are you running HIDs or high power halogens? if so why did they fry the harness. sounds like you have a short somewhere or you're running halogen bulbs with too much wattage.

get a plug, do it right.

Yes sir I am running HID, I used the halogen to test and see if the socket was bad or if it was my HID but from what I notice is that the socket was burnt. I checked online and notice that advance auto has the socket so I will stop by tomorrow to pick it up and get here done right.....

Thanks man!

HID uses much less wattage than halogens, so i would start tracing your wiring looking for a short or something that's ddrawing too much power.

a relay harness would be a good investment here.

I got her fix and also had to swap out the left driver headlight fuse as well.

Quick question, can I also change the sockets for the fog lights? All of the OEM fog lights sockets are burnt out.

Thanks!
