Default toyota type IV trans fluid

well, i complained before how it is $4.99/qt at autozone/discount etc... you guys all said lexus and toyota are cheaper, toyota usually being the cheapest. well, went to the toyota dealer on my lunch break and it is $5.29/qt. what gives? you guys were quoting like $3.60/qt and other similar prices. are there actually dealers out there that sell it that cheap? or am i stuck with $5/qt of trans fluid?

The price seems to be regional. I've seen some go as far as $12/bottle () to as low as $3.50.

No worse or better. The Mobil 3309 will work fine for your car.

Im guessing you didnt drop the club lexus price quote at the dealer lol,or have a reputation for seeing toyota dealer for your every parts need. I will say this on your situation. Buy the toyota fluid regardless of the cost. Its made for the car and a great product. I think our high mileage reputation of our cars is justice enough for that reccomendation. Futhermore build a repour with a toyota parts guy and let him know your not a window shopper. If he quotes you a price on a part say"is that my cost"? he may then realize youve done some research and back his price down, but beware if you go in or call and price stuff or fish for part numbers and never buy anything-your burying yourself back on the retail shelf. So go to him and say hey man i need a case of type-iv. When he gives you a price say "i pay ?$ for it here can you match that so i can start coming here and not drive so far. I got in this way a long time ago and its been a great relationship for me. Dosent hurt to give it a try. Trust me they want your buisiness happy shopping oh and the mobil is good stuff-their was a rumor once that mobile made the fluid for toyota and labeled if different, but that it was the same genetic makeup-but i cannot contest to truthfullness of that

toyota T-IV = mobil 3309. it's not a toyota-specific formula, rather it's a fluid used in many Aisin Warner automatic transmissions made for toyota, ford, volvo, and i believe even honda.

prices vary a LOT, side-by side lexus and toyota dealerships had quoted me a $3/quart(!!!!!) price difference.
