Default Tint question

I just got my '98 LS400 with 90K miles this last week and have been driving it for 3 days now and love it.

My previous vehicles and wifes vehicle have had window tint on them. My last vehicle was a crew cab F250 with 35% on the front windows and 5% on the rear doors, rear window and cap windows. Needless to say it was dark looking out the back of that truck.

I am wondering if anyone has 35% on their front windows and 20% on the rear windows and back window. I was never bothered by the Cops in my truck but I know that a car will probably be different and dont want to be pulled over for tint, just want a little more privacy than the fish bowl look on the car now.
Pictures and a discription of your tint would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Justin

Unfortunately, especially in VA., tint on your car WILL get you pulled over pretty frequently. Truck tint is a little different. Would check the local laws to see what is allowed. Can't remember what Va.'s is off the top of my head.

It is 50% on the front doors and 35% on the rear doors and rear window. Once I get my programmer from my truck sold I think I will be getting the tint done.

It is funny though with this car I find myself driving close to the speed limit when at 25 and 35mph and not even realize it till I look at the speedo. This car is so freakin smooth and comfortable I am not in a hurry to get out of it. Haha

I personally think 20% on the front is as dark as possible that is still safe for night driving. I went 20% and it's perfect for me and I haven't been pulled over for it.

Before and after pics here and a link to even more pics.

20 percent all around, dont give them a reason to pull you over. Whenever you pull up beside a cop just keep both windows down.. 35 is barely worth it. Btw if you do it yourself, take the door panels off.

I have 15% all around on mine, and love it. I have never been pulled over for it and the few times I have gotten pulled over I have just rolled down the front windows and was fine. Legal here in CO is 27 all around or darker in the rear and lighter than 70 in the front.

I like that 20% all the way around but I am traveling 60 miles one way to work out Rt 66 and I dont think I want to push it to badly with the Cops out this way.

Thanks for the pictures, gives me something to go off of now.

I'm in the same situation as you. I'm currently living in communist Ontario.

I like privacy but don't want to be inconvenienced. I wouldn't want to roll down the windows every time I come across the cops.

Something to keep in mind though...20% tint on a black car will look darker than tint on a lighter color...such as yours or mine(white).

I'm deliberating going for 25% on my father's LS400. .

20% while travelling on Rt 66, aka Fairfax predatory area, will MOST certainly get you a date with them frequently. If you don't want to GIVE them a reason to pull you then just do the 35 and be done with it. I have 20% on my 92 and as 7Schultz stated, it is very good for driving both day and night, BUT it WILL attract the temptation to have you pulled over. This is one of the main reasons I don't take my car to Va., don't want the hassle, so I stay in Md. Even certain parts of Md are kinda funny on how dark my tint is but (knock on wood) I havent been cited for it in the 4 years it has been on the car.

Not sure...in alberta they are very strict with tint, i know a couple people at work that got nabbed. Drive conservative, cops already know the car because there is not many around. Got pulled over twice, one was a check stop, the second he recognized me and almost got a ticket for the LED runnings lights. Nothing about the window's because i unrolled the fronts . If you really want to know the tint law started in Edmonton Alberta, someone shot an officer through the window with really dark tint.
