Lightbulb how to change your temp from Celcius to Farenheit

Well after years of Canadians buying US cars and Americans buying Canadian cars . One thing always comes up after the DRL issue . How to change the temp on the auto climate hvac system and the ambient (outside ) temp reading.

Well I did it (not by choice) as i bruned my wire harness again in teh wheel well and my headlights went . So after 8 hours of working on teh schematic tracing and measuring i find out my MPX is dead.

What is a MPX ? It is a Body control unit or BCM , still lost .
It controls the lights inside and out , mirrors , heater and about every other electric function outside of the engine . It costs $900 and I was not going to buy a new one. So I got one off ebay and plugged it in and my lights came back . Also my dual climate control and outside temp is in Fahrenheit now instead.

So just and FYI post , but if anyone with a 98-00 LS has a metric one and wants imperial , let me know for a swap . It is located behind the parking brake on the firewall under a plastic cover .

This should be how it is based on all Toyota's that do not have a toyota break out box option to change it.

That's pretty cool information after the countless threads in which people have asked how to do this switch.

Does your trip computer in the instrument cluster now show in mph or does it still show in km per hour?

Nope , the speedo is the same , still in KM .
Also the MPX controls the wireless key system so it needs to be programmed but I don't care as I use my aftermarket alarm anyway.

Default MPX Module change out

Interesting thread!

I have a US LS400. I am interested in finding a Canadian MPX Module and switch them out for the metric change.

Regarding the keyless programming can this be be done with out going to Lexus? Is there anything else that needs to be done other then plug in and get the keyless programming done?

Thanks

funny this thread came up. i recenlty reinstalled my battery and when i turned the key the outside temp showed celcius for a brief moment then went back to farenheit. found that odd!

to sLOWmO, i don't think there is a switch. there is simply a box that needs to be changed depending on the country of use.

The guy at the dealer told me my 1997 is a Canadian one. LOL .. oh well. I actually don't mind the temp in Celsius.

Most likely you don't need to swap the entire MPX, but can program it.

My US 2000 LS400 stays in metric for a few hours after battery disconnect, then at some point magically goes back to imperial.
