Default sagging rear suspension

Newbie here. My '97 LS400 with 108,000 miles has a new-found suspension problem. After two days of no driving, I came out and found my car had settled down over the rear wheels, hiding them behind the wheel wells. After driving for 15 minutes the car was back to normal. No Lexus dealer in my town.

1. How long can I expect to have before I need to replace the air suspension with an aftermarket solution such as the Arnott or Strutmaster kits?

2. Does anyone have first hand knowledge of these kits? Can you recommend them? I'd hate to have to pay the $1500.00 or so to buy them and have them mounted.

Thanks for your help. Great forum! SAM.

You don't like riding around in a Hooptie? :P

A lot of people say the Arnott kits work great, but recently I have heard of people having failure on their suspension components from Arnott in just a few months.

Most people recommend replacing the air suspension with the non-air suspension.

Welcome...lots of threads on suspension issues here. Can pick a variety of solutions based on what you want to spend.

Me personally, unless you really like the way air feels and it is quite nice, less hassles are available with a traditional spring strut combo. It will give up some plushness depending how particular your backside is.

Default Not this again!

Thanks to all you knowing owners!

My sad story continues: after three weeks of firm suspension, my 97 LS400 has collapsed again. I'll drive it again tomorrow, hoping for another cheap fix.

Can anyone tell me just what's going on? I'm ready to trade it in on something new, if I need a $1500 fix for a car worth $5,000 in trade.

Thanks, Lexus guys.
