For some reason my CEL on my 2000 LS keeps coming on stays on for about 100 miles than goes off randomly. My buddy says it may be the fuel vapors. Anyone have the same problem and know what it is from or what the solution to keeping it off may be?

maybe you should have the code read so you KNOW what the problem is instead of basically asking us to use the Force to figure it out

there are LIBRARIES full of the different codes and causes of OBDII cels...

The guy said it is the catalytic converter. If it doesnt stay on permanently do i still need to get it fixed? Whats the cost of repair?

you're on your own. there's no code that definitely says its a catalytic converter problem. post the code so we can help or continue to potentially get screwed over by your mechanic.

ok well the guy reset it so its off. ill take it to autozone and get the code next time it comes on.

code is still in there....ill go out on a limb and say one of ur 02 sensors is bad

I went to autozone this is the print out they gave me. Code is P0430, Definition: Catalyst efficiency below threshold. Probable cause: 1) Failed catalytic converter 2) Ignition system malfunction 3) Fuel system malfunction.

check for exhaust leaks, most common cause of that code.
