Default Lexus Shop (repair/service) Manuals on CD Rom

I saw Lexus Shop (REPAIR/SERVICE) Manuals on CD Rom for sale all over Ebay, from $15 to $40???? Did any one purchase one of these? Are these CDs very helpful? Are these the same with the Lexus repair manuals that sell for over $150.00 each.Look like they have different version of CDs, but it cover ALL Lexus vehicles from 1990-2000.
How much is a blank CD? the coppied manual cost $15.00, wow!

Ritrodrive, your cd set is the Toyota/Lexus dealer set, right? One guy (on ebay) claimed his cd set is the Mitchell's repair guide cd set:
"The two cd set covers a Total of 5 imports Acura,Honda,Isuzu, Lexus and
Toyota, the six cd set covers a total of 21 import, everything from Porsches
to Hondas, Jaguars Volvo etc."
Are Mitchell's repair guides good? How detail instructions are these guides?

The seller that sells the CD for one model year only claims that it is the pdf copy of the original Toyota repair manual. It sells for $30.

I can verify that if you purchase the service manual CD from Ebay (The seller that sells the CD for one model year only and claims that it is the pdf copy of the original.) that it is infact the origional. The only thing missing is parts. I just completed a tune-up oil, filters,PVC, plugs, wires, rotors and caps. Baby is purring

Example of manual;

COMPUTER RELEARN PROCEDURES

Vehicles equipped with engine or transmission computers may
require a relearn procedure after vehicle battery is disconnected.
Many vehicle computers memorize and store vehicle operation patterns
for optimum driveability and performance. When vehicle battery is
disconnected, this memory is lost. The computer will use default data
until new data from each key start is stored. As computer memorizes
vehicle operation for each new key start, driveability is restored.
Vehicle computers may memorize vehicles operation patterns for 40 of
more key starts.
Customers often complain of driveability problems during
relearn stage because vehicle acts differently then before being
serviced. Depending on type and make of vehicle and how it is
equipped, the following complaints (driveability problems) may exist:
* Harsh Or Poor Shift Quality
* Rough Or Unstable Idle
* Hesitation Or Stumble
* Rich Or Lean Running
* Poor Fuel Mileage
These symptoms and complaints should disappear after a number
of drive cycles have been memorized. To reduce the possibility of
complaints, after any service which requires battery power to be
disconnected, vehicle should be road tested. If a specific relearn
procedure is not available, the following procedure may be used:
Automatic Transmission
* Set parking brake, start engine in "P" or "N" position.
Warm-up vehicle to normal operating temperature or until
cooling fan cycles.
* Allow vehicle to idle for one minute in "N" position. Select
"D" and allow engine to idle for one minute.
* Accelerate at normal throttle position (20-50%) until vehicle
shifts into top gear.
* Cruise at light to medium throttle.
* Decelerate to a stop, allowing vehicle to downshift, and use
brakes normally.
* Process may be repeated as necessary.

What is your overall impression of it? Comprehensiveness, ease of use, etc.?

Thanks - J

At those prices why is there even a question.Buy it it has to be of some use.I am wary of CD,s for service ever since I spent over a hundered dollars for a mercedes factory one.It was a peice of cr-p.I bought the ls 400 books from books 4cars on the web at a very resonible price compared to the dealer.They are some of the best service books I have ever seen.Over twelve pounds of them.

The CD consists of a PDF for each section of the manual. For example "DOOR LOCKS, TRUNK LID & FUEL DOOR - POWER.PDF". It could have been constructed better but it is what it is a copy of the service manual. I combined all of the PDFs in to one and added bookmarks for each section that made it very helpful. I also print out the 1,600 pages and stuffed it into 2 binders. When I look at the 12lb+ of paper that printed out I could see paying $300+ for it. I’m not going into business but if someone need a (hard bound with reinforced binder paper) copy of this e-mail me for price + shipping.

i got the CD. Looks like it could be the toyota manual but they were sure to remove all the copyright. The CD did say Copyright Lexus 2001

The book is specific to the year make and model. it also has a number of other sections that are consistent for other models the same year. (i.e. wiring diagrams)

I think i would recommend this book for 30.00. It's about 39 megs of 79 PDF files.

It has trouble shooting..... computer codes..... torque settings.... wiring diagrams.... part diagrams..

No real photos. Only diagrams.

It looks good. I would rate is a 6/10 for manuals, but i haven't had a chance to use it yet.

My CD arrived and looked at its contents right away.

I don't think this is THE LEXUS official service manual. For one, it has references in some sections to other Lexus models with regard to similarities in repair procedures. Then, there is the "Courtesy of Toyota Motor..." in most diagrams. Obviously, the illustrations were lifted from the original factory manual.

But for $30, and the fact that it has tons of information, it's worth it.
