modding nakamichi stereo
is there a way to have the sub hooked up to a larger amp? while keeping the factory head unit and amp powering the speakers, such as plugging in the nakamichi amp into the larger amp which would power the sub?

there is sub outs on the amp? i thought there was two amps, one for the sub and one for the speakers? I just wanted to put in a loud 8 inch competition but the oem amp is not nearly powerful enough.

No, he means take the wires going to the stock sub, put them through a line-level converter and into the new amp. I had a cheap one that burnt before I bought a Scosche from Crutchfield.
