I'm buying my new LS430 in Austin TX and I was trying to figure out how much it will cost me to keep it. The dealer said that there would be a 6.25% sales tax, a hundred bucks or so to register the car, and another .00222% tax.

Is the sales tax minus my trade in?
What is this .00222% tax??
What are my annual registration fees for this car?
Is there an excise tax in this state/county?

You don't pay taxes on what your trading in so its minus your trade in. So if the price of the car was 80k and there giving you 10k for your trade in then you only pay tax on 70k.

Annual registration fee will be same as initial registration fee(approx. $100). The .00222 tax is a Vehicle Inventory Tax that all Texas dealers are charged by the state monthly on every vehicle they sell.
