Default High Pitched Squeal After Starter Replacement

This is my first post to the forum, so bear with me. I have a 1995 LS400 with 170K+ miles. First, a little history leading up to the problem:

The EGR pipe(s) have been leaking for quite sometime.

The starter contacts have been dying a slow death but I've been hesitant about replacing it due to the great degree of difficulty expressed on this forum and others.

I finally replaced the starter and the degree of difficulty was not exaggerated!!!

Problem: There is now a continuous high pitched squeal coming from
the engine. I haven't been able to pinpoint the exact location.
I did remove the drive belt just to eliminate all the things that
are attached to the engine.

Things observed during the Starter Job:

The upper and lower EGR pipes are attached to the rear coolant
crossover unit.

The rear coolant crossover unit must be pushed up in order
to facilitate access to the starter bolts.

With the lower EGR pipe still connected to the crossover unit, I
could push the crossover unit up without disconnecting the
other end of the lower EGR pipe from the exhaust pipe!

This implies that the lower EGR pipe is completely severed!

I attempted to remove the upper part of this severed pipe from
the crossover unit but I was not able to break the bolts loose.
I did not pry or push on this part of the pipe in any way.

Does anyone think that it's possible that the lower part of the severed pipe
got pushed against the flywheel? Any other thoughts/ideas will be greatly appreciated. I need help in a hurry!

You were not supposed to push the EGR, its connected to the exhaust pipe before the CAT being held down by 2 10mm nuts. What you should have done was remove the right side cat and loose the other side to get access to those bolts. Then take out all the bolts from on top the water bypass and pull out the entire rear section. The EGR when be attached to it and out of the was for full access to the starter bolts.
It's going to be a b%%ch to get out that EGR now.
