Default Rear Package Tray Removal

Hi,

To remove the rear package tray on a 1st Gen, do I just lift up on it, or are there some screws that need to be removed?

Thanks

you need to remove the rear seats to get to the screws/bolts holding it on.
that means both the bottom, and the back of the seat need to come out.

why do you need to remove it? Rear Shocks?

No, the shocks are new... I have a ticking sound that's coming from the rear tray. I think some of the adhesive that holds the carpet to it has given out so there's a spot that the adhesive is going "tick, tick" as it connects, separates, then connects wgen driving along. It only happens intermittently, depending on the weather and temp but it bothers me...

So, taking the back seat out isn't a problem, but after it's out, what's holding the tray in place?

Thanks

When I took mine out, there were a few clips holding it on, AFAIK. The package shelf slides in and out after the clips are disengaged.

Do you know where I look to get access to the clips? Is it from inside the trunk?

Thanks

No... I took the back seat out to remove my rear struts, installed different struts, replaced the seat, and I haven't had the ticking since. So, I can't say for sure where it was coming from. Could have been from the seat, the top strut mounts or the tray...
