Default Colder range spark plug= worse gas mileage?

I switched from the stock Iridium spark plugs with 120,000 miles on them to the Denso IK22's (Denso's website stock recommended plug is IK20)

The IK22 is one step colder plug that the IK20.

Can going to a colder plug cause worse gas mileage. I have a stock 1999 LS400.

Thanks!!
