Default 96 LS400 stalls occasionally, quick stop, quick gas

this has happened to me twice in the last 6 months (only had the car 8 mo), so it is very intermittent
i have to be driving highways speeds for at least an hour, i make a quick stop & then a quick accelerate and the car stalls
i pop it into neutral & it fires right up
my wife says it has happened a few more times, where it has hesitated, but not stalled
MAF? throttle body?

How does it run otherwise? Idle speed okay with A/C off? I have to agree with an ECM problem. Pretty typical on '95 and '96 LS's. I've had to replace once, runs like new with 215k.

It runs fine otherwise
anything else that would indicate an ECU issue?
anything i can reset to see if it fixes the problem?

what's the part number of your ECU? you can see it with the glovebox open, just peek over to the right.

I didn't see an ECU with it open nor could I get the glove box off. A pic so I know what I'm looking at?

I believe I remember some other members mentioning a recall on certain models of the 2LS for ECU problems? Perhaps that is what's causing your current issue?

Only way to check an ecu really is to get another one and plug it in and see if that fixes it >.<

Sounds just like my issue with my 1991 LS 400. When I come to an dead stop from a light or stop sign, the car would hesitate or stall. Or even if I fire the car up it would stall out. So I will have to give it some gas to keep her running. I did also have a issue with my wheels rubbing the wheels so I will also check to see if my wires in the fender are trashed.

I will still place a order for a ECU too. Mkaye, post an update when you get you'res.

Thanks!

the ECU update is to fix a very specific problem on the 95 & 96's
i.e. highway speed for a while, stop, go (while stopped the RPM drops to ~150)
if the car stalls, it fires up just fine & won't stall again until highway speeds again
i don't think this applies to you, but i'll let you know the results

Interesting. I just maybe having the same problem or just need to reset my idle. I know that the car RPM idles at ''0'' every time. How would I change the idle on my car? I'm not too sure where it is on my Lexus.
