they accidently installed my 275 tire on the 8" supra wheel, and that did not look right at all. It is just way too wide

Typically, if you look at the tire spec recommended rim widths, 245 is the largest tire size for an 8" rim. I wouldn't run a 255 on an 8" rim much less a 265 IMHO. Obviously you can if you want to, but I wouldn't.

For those that read this before I edited it, I meant 8" rims above.

Unless you want a severely mushroomed tire, go with a 245 or 255 (max) on an 8" wheel imo.

its going to look dumb.

why would you stagger the tires if the wheels arent staggered...?

and i hope you've already got some spacers for the front brakes, because SC wheels wont clear.

To answer your original question - yes a 275 will fit. I had a 275/30/20 on the back last year with a 15mm spacer with no issues. Lips were rolled.
Now why you would put a 275 on an 8" wheel is another issue.
The tire manufacturer's specs are 'suggested'. Every tire is different. A 275 from 3 different manufacturers can be very different dimensionally.

275 on a 10J wheel would be 'correct', wouldn't even think about putting it on 8J

You can put a 275 tire on an 8" rim SAFELY. I have done it and so has many other people without zero issues. Drag race guys do it all the time when they run drag radials. Heck I ran 275 tire on a 7" rim with no issues. The wheels on my Mustang were only 8" at the time and the back tire was a 275 and they did not mushroom or bulge out at all. An 8" rim is an 8" rim regardless of the manufacturer. If you decide to run a 275 in the rear, make sure you use a 40 series sidewall instead of a 45 then it can bulge out a little.

thanks guys for all the info. i just got the sc430 rims because i love the way they look and want to go really wide with tires. i plan on getting them painted dark gun metal beacuse my ls is silver and grey. i also plan on getting spacers for the front pd. my friend has a 2002 gs with sc430 rims and 265's on the back. he has no issues and it looks sick. i am not lowering or rolling the fenders.
