I don't think so, I must say. It is not a melting issue. Modern lead free alloys cause the crack more quickly. You can't compare only by the temperature.

Many European modern cars are facing the problem. Also below will help you to understand some more.

Thank you for sharing great solution. I got the same problem with my LS 400 1997. I would like to add one more thing. After fixing problem with lighting the display I assembled back my stereo and started testing all functionality. Everything worked except CD player. When punched CD button the unit recognized CD changer and loaded all discs one by one when punched up and down button. Unforunately it didn't see any disc even when properly loaded. I checked several times all the connections and still nothing. I brought the unit again to the professional and asked to check the solders. Then after installing back the unit, the CD changer still did not work. I disconnected the battery for about 1-2 minutes to reset the unit and after that it still did not work properly. I was angry but not seeing solution I put all together without properly working CD and started to look for other professional that could find the fault. 2 days later in my desperation I decided to disconect the battery again but this time for about 10 minutes to ensure liquidating entirely the residual current in the CD unit as it is connected separately even when the radio unit is taken out. Surprisingly it worked. Now CD is working great again. The problem does not happen each time but when occurs that might be the solution. All best to all LS 400 owners.
