Odd Question of the Week - Moon Roof Question
Here is the odd question of the week.
I have a '93 LS400 and have asked many people this question, including two Lexus dealers.
Why is it when you shut the moon roof (I call it a sun roof), does it stop a few inches from the close position? The manual states that this will happen, however, the manual doesn't explain why.
Thought about it today. I live on the Oregon coast and today it is 60 F and clear skies! Nice day to hane the moon roof open and cruse down the coast!

Now that makes sense!
Now that makes sense. It stops so I can get my hand or head out of the opening. The hand thing would be hard since I am operating the switch with my right hand while my left hand is no where near the opening. LOL!
Thanks for the answers.

to me it seems the PERFECT distance for water not to come in when your driving and its raining, the little wind ramp that comes up creates a airflow that the water follows instead of coming into the cabin, since water comes in the door with the window cracked I just use the moon roof... Maybe I should mention I smoke so I don't sounds like a loon that drives with windows open in the rain...

pretty sure its a safety feature. all mk2's, (82-86 supras) have a separate safety feature. there is a button that must be held in when you push the close button or the sun roof will not close. you dont have to hold it to open the sunroof though.
